Holiday Events on the Outer Banks

November 28, 2018 7:21 pm

Not dreaming about white Christmas, how about dreaming of sandy Christmas on the Outer Banks?

Many families want to escape the cold weather and snowy areas and come to the Outer Banks for Christmas. Outer Banks Christmas weather can be unpredictable but we didn’t have snow the week of Christmas the last 15 years. Snow on the beach for Christmas is many locals’ Christmas wish. Don’t hate us, we love snow and we rarely get it.

There’s no guarantee we won’t have snow but we’ll do our best to order sunshine. We’ll sure have warm rooms, the ocean view will still be amazing, and our Christmas dinner will be delicious.

There are games and activities or simply enjoy the view and relax.

The rates are also cheaper in the off-season, so take advantage of affordable hotel rates. Also, get the feel what it’s like to be on the beach in the offseason. It won’t be crowded as it is in the summer season, that’s for sure.

5th Annual Holiday Chefs Challenge December 13, 2018, at the Duck Woods Country Club, Southern Shores, NC

Holiday Chefs Challange

A night for foodies and doing good in the community! Outer Banks chefs compete for the title of “Prince or Princess of Canned Goods.” Each chef has 60 minutes to cook a dish using item(s) that the Beach Food Pantry would normally keep in stock to provide to their clients. One of the items used must be a canned good. Attendees and a three-judge panel vote for their favorite dishes.

“We are especially grateful to each chef and restaurant for donating their time, talent and resources to help raise money to fight food insecurity in Dare County”, says Beach Food Pantry Executive Director, Elisabeth Silverthorne.

Tickets are $75 per person and include event entrance, sampling and voting on the Chefs’ Creations, heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Enjoy a festive evening at Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores featuring auctions, raffles and other entertainment. Tickets will be on sale starting 10/1/18.
