Welcome Back to the Outer BanksFebruary 15, 2021 7:12 pm
As we head into the 2021 vacation season, we are pleased to welcome you all back to the ultimate playground for sun-loving (and fun-loving) vacationers! Here at the Outer Banks we are well known for our miles and miles of warm and wonderful beaches. There is hardly a shortage of things to do. From skimboarding and fishing to chilling out on the beach, there is something for everyone to enjoy here.
While we are excited to have you back this season, we want to encourage everyone to do their part to help keep Outer Banks open for business by following some basic rules for public safety.
What are the rules and restrictions?
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order on February 24, 2021 that modifies previous restrictions on business and public gatherings. This order covers all of Dare County, which includes Nags Head. Guests in our hotel must follow these rules. While restrictions are no fun, they are in place to protect everyone’s health and safety. If you have visited the Outer Banks in the past, you will notice some differences in how we are operating right now. Here is what you can expect.
1. Social distancing
Social distancing guidelines for Dare County remain in effect. Visitors and residents are required to maintain 6 feet from others. Avoid close contact with those who do not live in your household.
2. Mask wearing
Cloth face masks or other face coverings must be worn in all indoor and some outdoor public spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained. This includes our hotel common areas, such as the lobby, breakfast area, elevators, hallways, stairs, and check-in area.
3. Gathering limits
Group gatherings are limited to a maximum of 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. Small and large outdoor entertainment venues have different rules. You can read more about the specific guidelines if you plan to attend any outdoor events at these venues.
4. Restaurants and bars
Restaurants are open and permitted to serve at 50 percent capacity. Most restaurants also are offering takeout and delivery options. Bars are operating at 30 percent capacity, with a cap of 250 people.
These are just some of the many rules in place. Visitors are advised to review the full advisory before traveling to the Outer Banks.
